Personality & Traits

General Overview Vagho can be stand-offish and have a belligerent attitude, but he never disrespects the chain of command. He would have preferred to have been a tactical officer, but his technical knowledge was more in demand than his brawn. This has become a point of contention for him, but he performs his duties as required.
Strengths & Weaknesses Other than his physical strength, Vagho is a highly dedicated Starfleet officer. He is not a very sociable being and winds up spending much of his time alone
Ambitions To honor his father's memories and make a name for himself as a true warrior. As a department head, he also seeks to become a good supervisor who can be trusted and respected by his crew.
Hobbies & Interests Now that he is in Operations, he works diligently to further his knowledge on ship operations. Otherwise, he continues studying Mok'bara and assists the ship's Chief of Security in training the crew in self-defense techniques.

Personal History Born in 2353 to Yaroslav Nikolaev, a Human officer in Starfleet, and a Klingon mother, D'oveha, Vagho was always a bit conflicted in his upbringing. D'oveha was worried that Yaroslav would insist upon human training and instruction, but the opposite happened. Yaroslav loved his little warrior and wanted him to be accepted by his own kind. He went out of his way to ensure Vagho learned the Klingon ways, which made D'oveha immensely happy. Vagho, however, struggled to be accepted by full-blooded Klingons and was eventually deemed an outcast in all but name. Seeing the hurt and shame felt by his son, Yaroslav decided it best to move his family off of Q'onoS to come with him. D'oveha refused to go, but urged Vagho to accompany his father.

Yaroslav was posted to the Gamma 7 outpost near the demilitarized zone as the executive officer. He had to obtain permission to bring his son along, due to being so close to Cardassian space. While there, Yaroslav introduce Vagho to A't'Romel, a Klingon security officer stationed at Gamma 7. She was beneficial in continuing Vagho's training and education in Klingon culture and became a surrogate mother to him. In the meantime, all contact had been lost with D'oveha despite Yaroslav's best efforts. He feared the worst but did not notify Vagho--he wanted to find proof of her life, or death, before doing so.

Four years after his posting on Gamma 7, a Cardassian strike force attacked the outpost. It was a small party, only 15 in total, but they caused enough havoc in the outpost to set them back a year or more. Yaroslav led a team to defend the outpost and, without knowing Vagho was watching, was able to defeat three Cardassians with only a melee weapon before he was taken down. Vagho was devastated, but could not have been more proud of his father. Once the facility was secured, Vagho and A't'Romel performed the Klingon death ritual for Yaroslav as he fought like a true warrior and should be welcome to Sto-vo-kor with open arms.

With Vagho being without his father, Starfleet made attempts to locate his mother. D'oveha was finally contacted and, for an unknown reason, declined to take custody of her son. Instead of allowing him to become a ward of the state, A't'Romel was given permission by both the Klingon and Federation governments to adopt him.

Vagho kept learning from her as she moved from posting to posting, and found a new respect for his father and for Starfleet's training. Lt. Cmdr. A't'Romel was an engineering officer and included training in engineering and ship or station operations with Vagho. She also spoke to her commanding officer about sponsoring his acceptance to the academy.

He immediately requested security operations but his entrance testing scores based on ship systems and engineering steered him toward operations training. He reasoned that he would succeed easily in that role and bring more honor to his father. It never did sit well with him, however, that he chose operations over security and regretted it.
