| Personal History | Born 2341 on Trill, Nause and her sisters were schooled very early on the area of medicine from their father. He was a physician on the planet and would take them along with him when making house calls, even though they were only sporadic. But the idea of taking an ill person, working your way through figuring out what ailed them and then coming up with a treatment thrilled Nause immensely. It was like solving a very difficult, albeit potentially lethal, puzzle. With her father's help, Nause and her sisters received medical certificates on Trill, very much like that of a Physician Assistant on Earth. While working on other Trill, and the occasional alien species visiting the planet, was intriguing, Nause wanted to learn more about other species and how to help them. Her sisters were satisfied with remaining on Trill and received their MD, Nause applied to Starfleet Medical Academy. As expected, the training was tough, but she was determined to succeed. In 2365 she graduated sixth in her class and was sent to Deep Space 3 to complete her internship. Two years later she was sent out into the fleet as a medical officer serving aboard the USS Malinche, an Excelsior class vessel. Being a larger vessel, she received an extensive amount of experience there. Two years later she was transferred to the USS Steamrunner, a Steamrunner class and much smaller. She was named the Assistant Chief Medical Officer and was given more responsibility than before. She enjoyed practicing medicine on a smaller ship as well as being a supervisor to other personnel, something she found that she did well at. So much so that she was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant. In 2376, the Steamrunner was pulled into drydock for a major refit and would be out of service for almost a year. Her crew, with exception of the CO and XO, were all transferred to other postings. At the time, the USS Protean was in need of a Chief Medical Officer. Nause was assigned as CMO to the smaller vessel due to her experience and medical knowledge. |
