| Personal History | Lian was born in 2348 on Delta IV. Her father, Vidar, was a painter and had many of his works hung in government houses. Her mother, Liva, was an ambassador for her government. Lian was never interested in government work like her mother and developed her painting skills after watching her father. She wasn't quite adept as her father, so she sought other avenues of study. She went with her secondary school on an archaeological dig and immediately fell in love with the subject. Other than the hands-on training she received on various sites, she never underwent any training in the position. She was unable to be accepted to a local university for official training and failed the Starfleet Academy entrance exam, but the desire to learn more about the field intrigued her immensely. One last option was to enlist in Starfleet and receive at least some training and hopefully continue to learn. In 2365 she left for Mars and began her training as an enlisted Starfleet Crewman Recruit. While she would not earn a degree or many certificates from her enlisted training, she enjoyed all of the classes related to archaeology and anthropology, although she didn't enjoy the other courses as much. Upon her graduation, she was assigned to the Federation outpost on Caleb IV. She was afforded several opportunities to ply her trade and felt absolutely at home working in the dirt. She continued on Caleb IV until 2373 when she was transferred to Corinth IV, giving her a brand new area to continue her work. In 2377 she was transferred to the USS Protean, something she wasn't fond of since she would be taken away from having her hands in the soil to floating around on a ship. She wasn't sure if she'd ever get the opportunity to get back to her work while on the Protean, but she began her work with diligence. |
