In addition to her piloting skills, she likes to hang around Main Engineering while off duty to learn more about the work and to brush up on her engineering skills. |
| Personal History | Kanti was born in Ottawa, Canada, in 2355 in an Algonquian tribe. Her parents both work for a historical reenactment site in Ottawa, her father being a blacksmith, or iron weaver, and her mother working as the general manager of the shops. The family has strong ties to their Algonquian heritage and were raised as close to the traditional manner as possible, honoring the Kitchie Manitou, or Great Spirit, seeing Shamans, and holding time-honored ceremonies for various events throughout their lives. Kanti was the youngest for many years. Being the only girl, her big brothers, Chogan and Wematin, were very over-protective of her, almost cutting her off from friends and, most certainly, from suitors. It wasn't until she turned 12 that her sister, Alsoomse, was born and the focus turned to her instead of Kanti. This over-protective nature would form the basis of Kanti's outlook on life and how she handled herself in public, meaning she was socially withdrawn but truly cherished the friends she did have. During a coming-of-age ceremony, Kanti had a vision of flying while wearing red with a gold and silver pin. She realized quickly that this meant she would join Starfleet. Her academy years were a thrilling time for her, being so outside of the norm from her previous life. Her entire family, consisting of 38 tribesmen and women, came to her graduation. Despite not keeping strictly with the Algonquian lifestyle, all of her family were thrilled and excited that Kanti had done so well with her courses and knew she would make them all proud. |
