Personality & Traits

General Overview Pleasant disposition, inquisitive/curious, confident, fair, highly intelligent, independent.
Strengths & Weaknesses Strengths: Very fit and has an amazing amount of endurance. She has been taught leadership/command, self-defense, and squad/ship tactics since she was a child because of her father and uncles. A very accomplished swimmer.

Weaknesses: Streaks of stubbornness. Has been known to be quite anti-social and, with exception of a few very close friends, doesn't tend to want to make new acquaintances.
Ambitions Just as any good scientist, she wants to make a discovery of some importance for the good of all mankind.
Hobbies & Interests A bonsai tree that she's had for 18 years, flowers, Krav Maga (because her father forced her to take it and now it's a habit), running, so much swimming, and anything science-related.

Personal History Leah was born in Truro, Nova Scotia, in 2343 to Matthew and Olivia Sullivan. Her father served in Starfleet's enlisted corps for 38 years, finally retiring at the rank of Master Chief Petty Officer with many awards, certificates, and accolades from his time in the fleet. Olivia was a civilian biochemist for Starfleet but didn't speak much about her work as it was classified.

Matthew taught Leah swimming at a very young age and she began swimming competitively at age 5. Her father deemed it the perfect way to ensure his daughter's body was always "fightin' fit" for her career in security once she joined Starfleet. Being young and getting so much attention from her father, Leah didn't mind that he had already decided her future job and eagerly put up with his training. Olivia, however, was not to be kept out of Leah's instruction entirely. She made certain that Leah learned more than the average child about all things science and made her own contributions to Leah's future.

The training Leah received wasn't all from her father, however, as her uncles Noble and Duncan also took great pleasure in ensuring another Sullivan would grace the Federation with their security and tactical expertise. She learned small unit tactics from her father and Duncan, along with more and more advanced self-defense techniques and use of various weapons. From Noble, she was taught starship systems, how to pilot a small craft, starship tactics and more. It was as if the brothers Sullivan had found a prodigy that they could groom in their own images--to become the best of the three of them.

In 2358, Olivia was involved in an incident at work. It wasn't the result of her research, just a freak industrial accident that would require her to remain at home for quite some time to mend. Leah was able to spend more and more time with her mother, Olivia's scientific instruction finally overshadowing her father and uncle's security and tactical training.

Leah eagerly went to Starfleet Academy in 2360. Despite her father's wishes, she went the sciences route. Even still, Matthew loved and doted on his daughter, as his only child, but couldn't help but complain about how much he didn't understand why she wouldn't want to go into security. Her father's tune changed when, in her first year, Leah received the highest scores in the security & tactical department, despite being a sciences major. She beat the grades of all of the security cadets and Matthew made sure to let everyone know about it. Leah's scores were also excellent in the sciences her first year, but not good enough to be the highest. She decided to change that for her second year.

Years two and three she received the highest class score for her studies in the sciences, focusing on biology and biochemistry. She also continued to outscore the security cadets, but she wasn't concerned with those scores at all, deciding the focus all of her attention on her primary studies. It was enough to make her father almost burst with pride, however, to see that his daughter was doing so well across most all studies in the academy.

Upon graduation, Leah was her class valedictorian and received a special award for scoring highest in both science & security/tactical, but also making very high marks in command theory and being an accomplished pilot. She was assigned to the science section of the USS Honeywell, an aging Ambassador Class ship, right out of the academy.

Serving in the Alpha Quadrant, the Honeywell saw it's share of skirmishes that would signal the beginnings of the Dominion War. In one such engagement, a scientific survey group left on Kotak V, was met with aggression by a Cardassian unit. Taken by surprise, several of the scientists and security staff were killed. Leah managed to rally the remaining security forces to hold off the Cardassians until the Honeywell could send reinforcements. She received a commendation and was promoted to Lieutenant.

Not long after, all ships in the area were mustered once the first shots rang out at DS9. Having been at the station at the beginning, the Honeywell was soon destroyed by the large Dominion Fleet that also captured DS9. As luck would have it, the USS Protean, a small but fast frigate, was able to beam several survivors off of the Honeywell before all hands were lost. Due to having lost many crewmembers themselves, Leah was immediately named Chief Science Officer and entered into the Protean's logs.

As part of the fleet sent by Vice Admiral Ross to prevent the Dominion from removing the mine field at DS9, the Protean continued to suffer more losses of crew. Each member was required to pull extra duty and perform tasks that they may not have been initially trained for. With an ensign as the acting security chief on the Protean, Leah took the time to instruct all crew on anti-boarding procedures, and advanced skirmishing techniques should Dominion forces make their way onto the Protean.

Once the war was over, Leah was named Second Officer of the Protean. Her CO, Commander Dwight Clayton III, saw that his Chief Science Officer had much more going on in that head of hers than just research. She was a renaissance woman when it came to Starfleet training, and he needed someone like that in a position of authority on his ship.
